
After teaching dog obedience classes for over 10 years, it started to become clear to us that something was missing from the traditional dog training. Dog obedience and behavior modification classes tend to focus on mostly physical actions— teaching the dog to sit, stay, lay down, etc. Owners and dogs are taught what physical actions to take when teaching or modifying a behavior. Unfortunately, we have forgotten the most important thing—what owners and dogs should be doing MENTALLY. All actions and behaviors start in the MIND, not in the body. The body simply acts out what the mind has told it to do. By teaching the owner and dog to be in the correct frame of mind, it opens the door to better communication, more successful training/behavior modification, and a calmer more well balanced dog.
The Mindful Mutt classes are a blending of many different exercises in a relaxing environment that are designed to help put dogs and owners into a positive frame of mind.

These exercises include; Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, rewarding for relaxation, confidence building training, canine massage, Tellinington Touch, and visualization.
